It was a very great pleasure to see Lady Salisbury at the BNCS June Show. I had never met her Ladyship before and was standing outside the Hillside Centre, during the judging, when she approached. She asked me directions to the show and, on enquiring if she was a member, I was acutely embarrassed when she explained that she was our patron!

Lady Salisbury spent over an hour at the show, despite a recent eye operation. As judging of our exhibits was underway we started by visiting the pinks and borders trials.

Many of the pinks and border trials committee were there and her Ladyship chatted to many old friends and showed great interest in the cultivars on trial.

She then returned to the Hillside Centre and inspected the exhibits showing considerable interest in who had exhibited them and talking most knowledgably about the blooms. She spoke to many members and clearly had a great love of dianthus. We are very fortunate to have such a patron!
