The BNCS June Show (the first show of 2005) was a huge success and a delight for members and dianthus enthusiasts alike.

The weather was superb and brought out visitors in large numbers.
In all 14 exhibitors put on a display of 68 PF’s and 112 pinks. Staging took place either the evening before the show or on the morning of 21st. Below are some of the competitors preparing their blooms.

And here is another view of the showbench.

Here are the judges at work!

It is difficult in a brief article to pick out individual entries. For me the most impressive PF was Dalkani, although I realise it may not be to everyones taste.

It was shown by Maurice Woodfield who was avaliable to chat to members and provde a wealth of useful and interesting information.

Our chairman Doug Cottam (picture four above judging the PF’s) showed some really amazing pinks.

In the afternoon there was judging of the pinks trials and I can assure you the judges worked hard in the blazing sun.

I hope this brief account provides some interest and would urge members and enthusiasts to both attend and enter blooms into the Society’s future shows. The Summer show is at Towcester 12th July to 13th July, and the Autumn show is at Westminster 4th to 5th October.

JUNE SHOW 2005 AT WISLEY
Considering the lateness of many growers flowers the June show was quite well supported, with a total of thirteen exhibitors. Four in Perpetuals and nine in the pinks classes. There were no exhibitors in the border classes due to the vagaries of the English weather. Even the southern growers could not get them to flower early enough.
My thanks go to Joy Hayward for the excellent display of arrangements, many visitors commended her. I also thank the judges for their work but we were woefully short of stewards. We had a late change in the arrangements for judging and this did contribute to the shortage of stewards. We hope Dennis Franklin is continuing to improve and look forward to seeing him at future shows.
Finally my thanks go to Alex and Elsie Kitchen for their help during the setting up.
Overall we had a very good June show, and my thanks and congratulations go to all the exhibitors.
