Behind the scenes at Westminster
For those who don’t exhibit I thought you would like to see behind the scenes at the Westminster Show. It was an early start with many members from “up north” many of whom arrived by coach with their prized blooms with a variety of methods if transporting them. Other members drove to Vincent Square and of course had to pay the congestion charge plus parking!
Staging is quite a lengthy business with the champions taking particular care. Each vase requires a “plug” of Oasis to support the blooms and of course it needs to be filled with water. Each vase contains some foliage or “grass” from the appropriate cultivar (but will not necessarily be of the same variety).
As you can see it is the opportunity for friends to meet and chat and also for novices to receive help and advice.
And for the secretary there is considerable work to do.
