Look-alike Laced Pinks
While looking at the exhibits in the single laced pinks class at the June show at Wisley 2008, I could not see a difference between two of the exhibits. The varieties concerned were Anders Melody and Linfield Kathy Booker. I asked three experienced showmen, two of whom were judges, to tell me the difference between them. The judges could not see a difference. The non-judge commented that one had more buds, which in my opinion is not a reason for giving two identical flowers different names.
Perhaps exhibitors at future shows this year could keep an eye open for these varieties and let us know their views, via either the web site forum or the newsletter.
