Early Cuttings

In March this year I took some late cuttings of Crompton Classic, each cutting was placed in a 2” plastic pot in a 50/50 mix of sand and peat and left to grow on unstopped, all side growth was removed and the cutting left to flower.

They flowered at the beginning of June although they are not show standard they do make good cut flowers, or a excellent buttonhole with the advantage of having scent.

Once the plant has flowered it is discarded as any cuttings would be of no use.

Next year I shall try potting three cuttings in a larger pot and feed to see if I can achieve a longer stemmed bloom.
There is no way that I could achieve such early blooms via the conventual way, so if any members have late cuttings in March/April give it a go.
