Brian Yates, one of our members from the Southampton area, recently sent me some pictures.
Members have all been asked to display a BNCS car sticker in their window to help promote the Society. As you see Brian has kindly obliged.

I hoped that everyone would do their bit, but I was not expecting this!!!!

I can only say this is above and beyond the call of duty. Even the car matches the yellow background of our banners! Well done!
If anyone else has similar promotional images do send them for publication on the website.
Brian is an amateur grower with two unheated 12 foot greenhouses and grows his plants in clay pots. His main interest lies with PF’s but also Malmaisons. Below are a couple of pictures of his carnations. I wish mine were that good.

Brian has been a strong supporter of this website (as you can imagine from seeing his car), and has written articles and posted on the forum as well as giving me support generally. I thought you would be interested in one of his comments.
“I can remember as a child, my father who worked as Gamekeeper for Lord Louise Mountbatten at Broadlands in Romsey Hampshire seeing a mass of large rose shaped flowers in one of the borders and him telling me that they weren’t roses but Malmaisons. But sadly now lost to the perennial shrub that needs little or no attention.”
A big thanks from everyone at the BNCS.
Brian then sent me the following which I suspect reflects his philosophy on life;
A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches them who receive, without making poorer those who give.
It takes but a moment, yet the memory of it may last forever.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the sign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and is nature’s best antidote to trouble.
Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is something of no value to anyone, unless it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours. No one needs a smile so much as he who has none to give.
