The President 2004 Mrs Betty Linnell

I would like to thank you all for electing me as President of our Society which is indeed a great honour Upon looking through the list of Past Presidents it makes me feel very humble. I would like to thank some of our senior members for all the help, support and encouragement they have given me during my term as secretary.
As you know I have been involved with carnations and pinks for some years first as a BNCS Council Member Founder Member and Secretary of Northampton and District Carnation Society, Membership Secretary and Secretary of BNCS. All of which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
It is very sad that all societies, Chrysanthemums, Dahlias, Delphiniums, Roses and our own BNCS and its Affiliated Societies are loosing members. May I therefore ask that we all do our upmost to encourage new members especially younger people to ensure continuance of our Society.
As you may know I accompanied Jim, in his year as President, to shows around the country which involved travelling many many miles. We made many friends and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with everyone again at various shows since. I am not sure that we will travel so many miles in this my year (Jim says we are getting too old!) but we will do our best
I hope you will find it possible to give me your support throughout the year and let us endeavour to make BNCS something to be proud of.

Many thanks to you all.
