Thank you for electing me as your President for this year, 1997.
I am greatly honoured, especially to represent Border Carnations, which I hold in high esteem.
It was good to see that at two major shows last year, Border Carnations won The Premier Vase in the show.
We have a very active Council that has taken on the responsibility of representing Carnation Shows across the country. We wish them well. My one hope is that more people will come forward to exhibit in these shows to increase people’s awareness of our flowers.
In the autumn we will see a new book by the late John Galbally, it will make an excellent read in the long winter evenings.
I wish you all the best in growing and showing this coming year.
