Time flies and I am late with this monthly newsletter.
The big event this month is the Annual General Meeting. Details are on the appropriate web page. It is for members only. Do try and attend. It promises to be a most enjoyable day. I hear that Doug Cottam is to be our new president!
I was speaking to Ron Bowers recently. (He was hoping to contact Paul Rumkorf in Australia again. Do get in touch Paul.) He told me olf the spelling mistakes in his article in last years yearbook. I am therefore reproducing it here hopefully with the spelling correct!
I am trying to update the site for 2006. Look at the arrangements for this years Pinks Day at Wisley Wednesday 13th June. It promises to be another hugely successful and interesting day for all dianthus enthusiasts. Make sure the date is in your diary. This event is open to all.
Coming soon wil be the definite date for the visit to Whetmans nursery. Again this will be of interest to all members and hopefully will broaden interest in the Societies activities.
In the “Links” section You will find a greatly expanded section fron the affiliated Notts society with useful advice from Roy Holden on hormone rooting powder. This is well worth a look. Other affiliated societies can likewise send more information to be included in their own section.
With Feb 14th just around the corner there is a tongue in cheek article on Valentines Day in the events section.
For those ordering new plants the carnation nurseries section hopefully provides a comprehensive list of UK nurseries. As ever if I have missed any out do let me know. Nurseries with websites already have a direct link from this page. For other nurseries there is now a page of catalogues scanned in to enable members to see what is avaliable (if the nursery agrees).
I am heartened by the response to a plant heritage scheme (incorrectly spelt for a year on the Discussion Forum!) Do please register any interest either as a member with plants to offer or as someone who would like to be a plant guardian. I hope that this is something that can be discussed further at the AGM.
Cultural Guides for Pinks, Borders and Perpetuals can be purchased from the secretary. there is now a link from the home page.
Once again do send any matterial for inclusion to the web editor.
