-1961 F Hicks: Connected with P-f Carnations throughout his working life, and a member of the BCS since 1928, Fred returned to Duttons Nursery at Iver, Bucks as manager of their P-f division after serving in the First World Was in the Royal Flying Corps, where he trained as a pilot. In 1926 he started up his own business at Wokingham, Berks specialising in P-f carnations. He was the pioneer of growing carnations in sand on a commercial basis in the UK and in 1944 read a paper at the meeting of the BCS at the Waldorf Hotel, giving details of his methods. Upon retirement in 1945 he went to live in Hordle, Hants, but soon recommenced growing and exhibiting P-f carnations, breeding many new varieties for the commercial grower. As a regular exhibitor, he won the Daily Mail Gold Trophy four years out of five. He aslo carried out a trial of P-f carnations, consisting of 38 new varieties, for the BCNS from 1949-1951.

-1963 Capt T A Combe; Served in the Grenadine Guards during the Firstt World War, then left in 1921 to settle in Kenya growing coffee, maize and sisal. Returned to the UK in 1929, studying Tomatoes and Carnations under Dr. Bewley at Cheshunt Lea Valley Horticultural Research Station. Started his own nursery in 1934, specialising in P-f carnations and Roses.

-1965 H W Holloway: A keen amateur grower, firstly of Border Carnations, which he commenced exhibiting in 1950, but later of P-f Carnations and Pinks. A member of the BNCS Council from 1955. Editor of the first How to Grow P-f Carnation booklet produced by the BCNS
